How to enable RCON on a Minecraft server

To enable RCON, open server.properties and set three parameters: enable-rcon=true, rcon.port=25575, and rcon.password with a strong password. Then open that port on your host or firewall and restart the server for the settings to take effect. An empty password isn't allowed — RCON won't start with one.

RCON (Remote Console) lets you send commands to your server from the outside — for example, from a control panel or to auto-deliver purchases. It's enabled in server.properties in a couple of minutes. Here's how to do it and connect it to Spixy.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open server.properties

The file sits in the server's root folder. Most hosts let you edit it right in the panel.

  2. 2

    Enable RCON

Set: enable-rcon=true, rcon.port=25575 (or your own), rcon.password=a_strong_password. An empty password isn't allowed.

  3. 3

    Open the port and restart

Make sure the RCON port is open on your host/firewall, then restart the server for the settings to take effect.

  4. 4

    Connect it to Spixy

In the server settings in the dashboard, enter the host, RCON port and password — the connection is verified, and browser commands and automatic donation delivery become available.

What's included

Commands from the browser

Control your server without the host's console.

Automatic purchase delivery

Donations are granted via RCON commands right after payment.

Secure storage

Your RCON password is stored encrypted.

Frequently asked questions

Which port should I use for RCON?

25575 by default, but any free port works. The key is to open it on your host and enter the same one in Spixy.

Is a password required?

Yes. RCON shouldn't run without one — set a strong rcon.password. We also recommend restricting access to the port on the host side.

Why does Spixy need RCON?

To send commands to your server from the browser and to automatically deliver donation-store purchases after payment.

Once RCON is enabled, connect it to Spixy — and you get a server control panel and automatic donation delivery alongside your project's launcher, website and store.
